USC law school promotes associate dean Wilcox
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina School of Law has picked an associate dean to take over the school.
Robert M. Wilcox was named the new dean Thursday after a two-month search. Wilcox will take over his new job on July 1.
Wilcox graduated from USC’s law school in 1981 and came back as an associate professor after five years in private practice. He was named associate dean in 2006 after teaching ethics and professionalism, property and wills and trusts.
Wilcox takes over for Walter “Jack” Pratt, who will return to teaching at the law school.
Wilcox is the fourth dean at the law school since 2003. Two others have served as interim deans during that period.
USC President Harris Pastides says Wilcox’s knowledge and experience should help provide stable leadership.
