Gun found at Pee Dee Elementary School

MYRTLE BEACH — Horry County Police responded to an incident Friday afternoon shortly before 2:00 p.m.

Horry County Schools spokesman Teal Britton says a third grade student told an assistant principal that a fifth grader showed them a gun.

School officials found the student and the gun in a book bag.

Britton says there was no ammunition in the book bag.

She cannot confirm if the gun was loaded.

As part of standard procedure the student will be suspended.
