Columbia offers art classes for homeschooled kids

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Children who are homeschooled in the Columbia area are getting a chance to sign up for new art classes.

The City of Columbia say the six-week sessions start Monday at the Columbia Parks and Recreation Art Center downtown.

There are basic art classes for students ages 5 to 9, and kids age 10 and older can sign up for a class about using clay. Teenagers can take an advance pottery class.

Organizers say the creative expression seems to help foster critical thinking skills.
