Career centers honored for excellence

Moore Norman Technology Center and Canadian Valley Technology Center both earned the title of Gold Star School. The Gold Star program recognizes technology center districts that show overall excellence through completion rate, placement rate, capacity and other standards.

Moore Norman Technology Center and Republic Bank and Trust were honored with a Partners for Progress Award for improvement and development of career and technology centers.

Moore Norman Executive Director Karla Marshall earned the Outstanding Educator Award. Marshall developed the Moore Norman Technology Center Summer Youth Academy enrichment program in 1995 for children ages 9 to 16. The program enrolls nearly 1,000 children each summer for career and technical classes.

Also, Troy Scott of Francis Tuttle received the Outstanding New Professional Award, which is given to potential leaders who have been working at a technical school for at least two years.
