BOSTON — A New York woman is suing her former Roman Catholic college in Boston because she claims the school did not do enough to help her when she complained that her roommate was having too much sex in their dorm room.
Lindsay Blankmeyer says she was driven into a suicidal depression after Stonehill College administrators wouldn’t give her reasonable housing alternatives.
According to her federal lawsuit, Blankmeyer says her roommate would have sex with her boyfriend while she was trying to sleep just a few feet away and would have sexual explicit online chatting with him while Blankmeyer was in the dorm room.
Blankmeyer says after the college refused to move her roommate or give her an acceptable private room, she lived in a hotel.
“Stonehill refused Lindsay’s request for a single room and in the following weeks and months Lindsay fell into a dark and suicidal depression requiring her to take a leave of absence from school and undergo extensive psychiatric and medical treatment,” the lawsuit states.
Stonehill’s spokeswoman says the college responded quickly to Blankmeyer’s complaints, trying to resolve the dispute through mediation and then giving her multiple options for campus housing including a private room.
She says Blankmeyer never said the problem had to do with her roommate’s sexual activity.
Blankmeyer claims in the lawsuit that the college offered her two options, one was moving to another dorm where she would live in a room that was previously used as a study lounge and was a “small cubicle-like space.” The other option was to move to a dorm with a reputation as a “party dorm” to live with a girl Blankmeyer did not know.
Blankmeyer eventually completed her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from home.
ISHPEMING — Monday marked the 100th anniversary of an organization that over 50 million girls have been a part of, and that’s Girl Scouts.
The Girl Scout Troops of Ishpeming, Negaunee and Republic celebrated the big day by “Lighting up the U.P.”
They had Girl Scout trivia, crafts, and a presentation by Miss Teen Michigan International.
“This is something that will never happen again in any of our lifetimes. This is the 100th anniversary. It’s all year long we’re celebrating, but today is the official day,” said Girl Scout Manager, Corey Grigg.
After the presentations, the girls all went outside, held hands, circled up and lit up the U.P. sky with flashlights.
Facing felony charges is tough. When you first hear the charges filed against you, it is really scary. But with the right defense attorney you might come away from the situation much better than you think. There are many ways to have charges reduced and, in some cases, dropped entirely. Navigating these waters alone isn’t the answer, however. You need a qualified attorney at your side, leading the way.
Lawyers Who Specialize
Some criminal charges, such as DUIs, drug charges and other specialized cases may require a criminal attorney that has experience in these specific kinds of cases. Read more…
Car accidents happen daily, hourly, and even by the minute. In a split second everything changes. One moment you are driving along the road, the next, the police are there, you cannot drive your car, and very possibly, you are waiting for an ambulance to take you to the hospital. Where do you go from here?
Of course the most important thing is to make sure that everyone is alright. Are there any serious injuries? If so a call to 9-1-1 will make sure that help is on its way. Unfortunately, not all injuries are clear right away. Injuries from an accident can occur days, even weeks later. Read more…
